New Barbershop Opens in Berrien Springs

Berrien Springs welcomes a new addition to its business community with the grand opening of Refined Barber Company, a fresh and modern barbershop set to meet a long-standing need for professional barbering services in the area. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at 102 St. Joseph Ave., and the event promises to be a lively affair with food trucks and local vendors.
Megan Kerlikowski, the 26-year-old owner of Refined Barber Company, brings nearly a decade of experience to her new venture. Inspired by a lifelong dream to create her own barbershop, Kerlikowski’s journey began at 18, when she dual-enrolled in beauty school while attending high school. After training in Niles for beauty school, she apprenticed under a barber, refining her skills and building a foundation for her future business.
“We’re a classic barbershop with a modern edge,” Kerlikowski explains. “We cater to all ages and ethnicities and offer everything from traditional barbering services to braids and locks.” With a commitment to versatility and inclusivity, Refined Barber Company aims to become a hub for the community, welcoming everyone who walks through the doors.
For Kerlikowski, opening Refined Barber Company is about more than just business; it’s about inspiring young people who dream of starting their own ventures. “My advice would be to start by forming an LLC and learning to manage finances,” she says. “Pursue your dreams—because you only have one life.”
Kerlikowski has big goals for Refined Barber Company, with aspirations to open multiple locations in surrounding areas. For now, her focus is on delivering top-notch services to the community and creating a space that brings people together.
The grand opening celebration will take place this Saturday. Refined Barber Company looks to provide the community with a much-needed barbershop experience—one that combines classic barbering with a fresh, modern approach.
